Tips for getting to us

The easiest way of getting to us is to catch the Salcombe-East Portlemouth foot ferry from Salcombe and then walk to us from the East Portlemouth ferry pier.

The ferry runs all year round, however its schedule and frequency changes based on the time of year. In busier months it runs continuously and in quieter times it runs on the half hour/hour. You can check the schedule on their website here: https://www.salcombeinformation.co.uk/advertiser/salcombe-ferry-3/

Once you get off the ferry, we are a short walk away. If the tide is low, you can walk along the beach all the way to us. Alternatively, and if the tide is up, walk up the ferry slipway and onto the road. Turn left and keep walking. After about 8 minutes you’ll come to a junction. Keep walking straight and we are 150m after the junction, at Port Waterhouse, opposite a row of thatched cottages.

When you enter Port Waterhouse, turn slightly left and walk down the hill, following the track to the bottom. Keep walking all the way to the bottom and we are located round the front of the building (closest to the water).

Alternatively you can get to us by driving. Please see ‘Getting to us from anywhere else’ below for more details.

If you’re staying in East Portlemouth, the easiest way of getting to us is simply to walk! We’re a maximum of a 15 minute walk from most of the properties in the village, and for a lot of them even closer. We’re very close to the beaches too!

When you enter Port Waterhouse, turn slightly left and walk down the hill, following the track to the bottom. Keep walking all the way to the bottom and we are located round the front of the building (closest to the water).

If you’re further afield and don’t fancy the walk, please see the below section ‘Getting to us from anywhere else’.

If you’re coming to us from anywhere else then the easiest method of getting to us is going to be driving. We are a short drive away from lots of local villages, 30 mins from Kingsbridge and 45 minutes from Dartmouth.

During the last bit of the journey, there are two separate routes that your sat nav might take you. One is tidal and very narrow and can involve lots of reversing, so the better route is the inland route.

The best thing to do is to set your Sat Nav or Google Maps to ‘East Portlemouth (Village)’. This generally forces all routing software to take the inland route. Once you get to the village, then type in ‘Port Waterhouse’ into your routing software and we are a 2-minute drive down the hill from the village.

Once you get to us and enter the site, turn right into the large parking field. This is where you can park. Please do not park on the gravel area to your left as you enter as this is for customers of another business. Payment for parking is £5, payable in cash only. This allows you to park for the whole day. Please bring exact money as there is no facility for change. Please note that the car park isn’t run by us, so we are unable to assist with parking payments and we do not carry a cash float for change.

Once you’ve parked, leave the field and turn right, walking down the hill, following the track to the bottom. Keep walking all the way to the bottom and we are located round the front of the building (closest to the water).

It’s  often possible to get to us by boat, and depending on the size of your boat and time of day we can usually accommodate this.

As it is so dependent on the tide and day, please get in touch with us if you want to come by boat so that our team can advise of the best approach.
