Frequently Asked Questions

We hope that the information on this page is useful, but if there is anything else that we can help with, please get in touch with us.

For detailed instructions, please visit our directions page: Getting to us.

If you are coming from Salcombe, the easiest thing to do is hop on the Salcombe-East Portlemouth foot ferry. We are a 10-minute walk from the ferry.

If coming from further afield, then driving might be the best option. Enter ‘Port Waterhouse’ (not our postcode) into your Sat Nav and follow the inland route to us (not the route that follows the coastline).

We ask all customers to arrive at least 15-minutes before the start time of the booking to ensure that we can get out on the water on time. Failure to do this might impact on your time out on the water.

However you are getting to us, we recommend leaving some extra times as journeys often take longer than your phone suggests! There might be a queue for the ferry, or congested roads, particularly in the summer months. If you get here early, we’re in a beautiful spot to sit back and relax, in preparation for your activity!

We have plenty of parking on-site, however please note that the parking is run by a separate organisation and is nothing to do with us. Parking costs £5 for the whole day and is payable in cash only, so please make sure you bring exact cash with you to make the payment. Once you’ve finished your activity, you can leave your car there for as long as you like that day, so why not make the most of your drive and spend some time on the beaches or hop on the ferry and explore Salcombe Town?

Unfortunately, we are unable to assist with payments for car parking and we do not have a cash float so are unable to provide change.

Unfortunately, members of the public are unable to launch their own craft from our site. There are plenty of free places to launch from in East Portlemouth, such as Mill Bay beach and the Yalton tidal road bay, both of which have convenient road access.

If you are desperate to launch from the Port Waterhouse site, please get in touch with Port Waterhouse who may be able to help you.

For detailed information about what to wear, please visit our ‘What to expect from your activity‘ page or read the information linked in your confirmation email.

Wetsuits are suitable for all activities, and we can provide these if you do not have your own. Please note we have no changing facilities, so it’s best to arrive wearing swimmers so that you can get into your wetsuit easily.

We understand that plans change and we will always do our absolute best to accommodate you. Please visit our ‘Cancellations‘ page for more information.

If you are looking to cancel your booking, please get in touch with us as soon as possible, as this gives us the best chance of filling your spots and allowing a full refund.

Please note that if you fail to show-up for your booking with no warning, we will be unable to offer a refund.

For some activities, we have minimum booking numbers in order to be able to run the activity. If you place a booking for less than this number of people and nobody else has booked that session, you will receive an email with your booking marked as ‘Pending’.

Once someone else books onto that session, your booking will be automatically confirmed via email. If nobody else books that session, we will get in touch with you to discuss options. Please check before coming if you haven’t heard from us!

Yes – we have toilet facilities on-site. Just ask a member of our team for more information.

Please note that our facilities are shared with other businesses and as such, no changing is permitted in the toilets. We have changing rooms that can be used for changing.

Yes! We now have two changing rooms which can be used for getting ready for your activity. Please still aim to come wearing swimming trunks to keep changing as quick as possible – this helps to get everyone out on the water as quickly as possible.

Yes! It’s possible to add multiple items to your basket in order to book several activities in one go.

Navigate to the first activity you want to book, select the number of participants and date/time and click ‘Book now’. In the popup that appears, hit the ‘x’ in the top right corner. Now navigate to the other session(s) that you wish to book and repeat the process.

Once you’ve booked your last activity, simply continue with the popup instead of hitting the ‘x’. You can remove any surplus activities at this stage if you have made any mistakes.

If you’ve already added all the items that you want to your basket and simply want to checkout, click on the ‘View my basket’ option on any of the booking pages.

Yes of course! We’d love to see you out on the water if at all possible, even if it’s a same-day booking.

Just give us a ring using one of the contact numbers on our Contact Page and we’ll do our best to fit you in.

Yes of course! Just get in touch with us using our Contact Page. If the request is for a same-day booking, give us a ring, but for all other booking requests drop us an email or call and we’ll be glad to help!

Our RYA Powerboat Courses are taught across the two boats in our fleet – Wally and Granite. You can see more about the boats here.

Our Powerboat Level 2 courses will be primarily taught on Granite, our 6m RIB, however we usually cover the basics of tiller-steered operation on Wally. We can usually skew the course the other way if that is requested by customers.

Our Powerboat Level 1 courses are taught with a more even split between Wally and Granite – however these courses can also be skewed based on experience and requests from customers.

It happens – we understand that journeys can take longer than anticipated.

We will always try our absolute hardest to give you best possible experience, even if you are a little late, and our friendly staff will be able to talk you through the options once you get to us. If you know you are running late, give us a ring on the numbers on our Contact Page – this allows us to plan and make sure we can provide you with the best service!

Generally, it is possible to arrive by boat for your activity, however please bear in mind that our location is tidal and as such there are some times when this won’t work.

Please get in touch with us prior to your booking date if you’d like to arrive by boat, so that we can advise you as best as possible.

At the start of the 2022 season, we decided to rename the business Salcombe Watersports. This was to reflect the fact that we offer both paddleboarding and sea kayaking, and we have even more exciting plans in the pipeline.

Worry not! It’s the exact same friendly team behind the business, offering the same service as before – the only thing that’s changed is the name on the door!
