Kids' Club
Our kids’ club is back for 2025!
Ideal for Salcombe and East Portlemouth regulars and local residents alike, our Kids’ Club is designed to give your children fantastic, fun watersports experiences every week during the summer. This will allow your children to grow in water confidence and gain paddlesport skills. Our kids’ club is suitable for kids aged 10 to 16 – please get in touch if you have any questions.
Sessions are held twice weekly, every Wednesday and Friday from 16.00 to 18.00 and are led by one or more of our fully qualified watersports instructors. Each session lasts 2-hours and will involve either paddleboarding, kayaking, windsurfing or some sort of mixture (whatever the group wants to do / whatever is appropriate for the weather!).
Whilst the sessions are led by qualified instructors, these slots are more designed as an opportunity for your kids to get out and have amazing experiences on the water during their summer holidays. There will be loads of opportunities for learning, but the sessions won’t be structured as formal lessons.
In order to take part in one of our sessions, your child must be a member of our Kids’ Club. Once you’re a member, all our kids’ club sessions are free so you don’t have to pay any more. This saves you over 71% over paying for lessons individually!
If you are thinking of joining the club, please read the FAQs below before joining to help understand more about the club!
Becoming a member is quick and straightforward – all you need to do is fill out the form on the membership page!
Unfortunately not! The model of the club is that it is a membership club and we understand that there will always be sessions that members won’t be able to make.
Your child must be aged 10 – 16 to take part in the kids’ club.
Yes – as these aren’t formal teaching sessions, we require children to be water confident and happy with basic kayaking and paddleboarding.
Due to the fast-paced nature of the sessions, they are not suitable for beginners.
If your child is a beginner but still wishes to join kids’s club, please book a lesson prior to them coming to the first session.
Once you have membership, booking is required so that we can arrange enough staff for the number of attendees.
Failure to do this may mean that your child cannot go on the water.
We sometimes allow extras to join on a case-by-case basis. This must be checked with us first.
They must be accompanied by a full-time member and a charge of £25 per session is applied.
Friends can only join for a limited number of sessions before full-time membership is required.
Yes! The sessions tend to end up in getting wet, so we ask that kids are in wetsuits.
If you do not have your own, these are available to hire.
Yes! We will provide a buoyancy aid and any other safety equipment (e.g: leashes) that are required.
If the weather is really terrible, we may have to move the session to another day – we will provide as much notice as possible for this.
At the end of the session, we ask that you are there to meet your child off the water.
If they wish to continue playing in the water, this will be under your supervision and we will collect any Salcombe Watersports equipment to avoid any confusion.
